We might not think of it this way but plywood is a bit of a wonder material. It’s lightweight but strong and can be shaped and formed in an almost infinite number of ways. It’s sort of like plastic in that way, except with the classic good looks and sustainability of wood. This makes it absolutely smashing for tables, some of the most heavily used pieces of furniture in your home, not to mention the centre of many a room’s layout.

Try one of these out in the dining room as the new focal point of the space. The dining room is obviously supposed to be a lively place, where you gather with friends and family to share delicious, nourishing meals and celebrate the good times. So we’re always going to go with tables in bold colours that help keep that energy flowing. Try a light stain top with any of the primary colours for legs. Blue and red will look great if your style is more vintage, matching up flawlessly with oriental rugs and mahogany side tables, while yellow is fab for modern and breezy bohemian looks. Either way organic materials like wood look phenomenal with woven fabric so consider picking out a wool runner to help showcase all your delectable dishes.

In the home office, we might want something a little more low-key, but still totally handsome: after all, no one is inspired by drab furniture. A table with a darker-stained top and glass elements is a chic professional look, as are ones with black-and-white, all wood construction.
