In the Ancient Greek myth, Taurus was the animal who sired the Minotaur. Poseidon drove Queen Pasiphae mad with lust for the bull in order to punish her husband King Mino. The bull later became wild and had to be captured by Heracles for his seventh task. Zeus had previously taken the form of this bull to abduct Pasiphae’s mother Europa.
