How our stylists hang art

A few rules they return to every time.

01

Start with calm colours

A bathroom should feel like a retreat. I always start with soft blues, warm neutrals, and muted greens — colours that lower your heart rate the moment you walk in.

02

Frame for humidity

People forget bathrooms are humid environments. I only recommend our sealed classic frames here — they protect the print and look elevated next to chrome or brass fixtures.

03

Think gallery wall

A single print is nice, but a gallery wall above the bath transforms the entire space. Mix sizes, keep the palette tight, and leave 5–8 cm between frames.

  • POWDER ROOM · FEATURE WALL

    Style tip:

Small rooms benefit from a single bold piece. Choose a print that takes up at least 60% of the wall width for maximum impact.

  • ENSUITE · GALLERY WALL

    Style tip:

Mix print sizes but stick to one colour palette. Three to five pieces in a loose grid creates visual interest without overwhelming a small space.

Bathroom art: do & don't

A short list of things our stylists will quietly fix in your photos.

Do

  • Choose moisture-resistant frames or sealed prints for humid spaces
  • Hang art at eye level — about 145cm from floor to center
  • Use soft, calming colour palettes that complement your tiles and fixtures
  • Group odd numbers of prints (3 or 5) for natural visual flow
  • Consider the lighting — bathroom art looks best with warm-toned bulbs

Don't

  • Don't hang original watercolours or unprotected paper in steamy bathrooms
  • Don't place art directly above a shower or splash zone
  • Don't overcrowd — leave breathing room between frames
  • Don't mix too many frame finishes in one small room
  • Don't forget scale — tiny prints get lost on large walls
