What inspired you to become an artist, and when did you first realise that you wanted to pursue this career path?

My grandfather was an artist and inspired me when I was very young to become an artist too. My natural creativity did the rest of the job.

What are some of your favourite materials and mediums to work with, and why do you prefer them?

I prefer to paint with acrylic on canvas because that allows you to use incredible colours, it dries fast so you can easily paint on it again. Sometimes I work on thick paper.

How would you describe your artistic style, and how has it evolved over time?

Colourful animals featured in humorous actions. In the beginning I painted human beings, but from the moment I start painting animals, I realised that these paintings were appreciated by a much larger group of art lovers.

What themes or ideas do you explore in your artwork, and why are they important to you?

First animals, then humour as these two things are incredible communication tools.

Can you walk us through your creative process, from the initial concept to the finished piece?

It’s difficult to describe, as inspiration is not something rational, but most of the time, my best ideas come in unexpected moments: during a walk in nature, in a dream, driving the car, watching a film.   Once I have the idea, I first make a little sketch. When this really pleases me, I paint the final work on canvas.

Who are some artists or other creative figures that have influenced your work, and how have they inspired you?

Picasso for his unlimited creativity and originality, Dali, Magritte for their realistic transformation of the real life.

What advice would you give to aspiring artists who are just starting out on their artistic journeys?

You have to persevere and believe in your work. Results take time so be patient.

What's your favourite piece that you sell on Fy! and why?

Giraffe with green leaf This is my best-selling piece worldwide, when I google this painting I found many, many copies of it. Not only commercial ones but also amateurs, children. It's kind of an honour to be copied.

Which other artists on the Fy! platform do you love?

Jonas Loose, Giselle Dekel, Jenny Liz Rome

Can you share with us a favourite piece of art from another artist and tell us why you love it?

"Looking For My Socks" from Giselle Dekel: simple, effective and funny.
