Introducing Alexandra Cook, who runs a textile and accessories brand from London and recently collaborated with influencer Nikki Blacketter to create an exclusive range for Fy!

What made you get into art in the first place?

It was never really an option for me to be honest! I've always been a creative soul and growing up expressing myself was integral to my happiness. So I always wanted to pursue an artistic career in some way.

How would you describe your style?

I try to let my work speak for me as much as possible but I guess I would attempt to describe it soft and linear, feminine but powerful and hopefully most importantly emotive and intimate. I enjoy allowing emotional space in my work that allows the viewer to interpret the images in a way that speaks to them how they wish.

What techniques do you use in your work?

I work fully digitally now. I use the app Procreate mainly on my Ipad. I usually start with an image either from pinterest or something I have photographed as a direct reference and then I sketch from there. Working digitally is great because I can erase any mistakes with ease which really speeds up the process.

What's your favourite piece for sale on Fy! and why?

Definitely Travel Dreams. Even though I drew it a couple years ago now, it's still a piece I come back to for reference. I think it was one of my pivotal changing moments in my art style recently. It really evokes a certain melancholy or nostalgic feeling and makes me want to explore more fantastical themes for expressing emotions in my work. Hopefully I can begin to upload more work like this on my Fy store in future.

Can you recommend or suggest any other artists on the platform that you love?

One of my friends Lucy is also on this platform! I'm in love with her work, she's extremely talented. Check out Luceferous prints here.
