Medieval monarchs had many luxuries, but they didn’t have central heating. So when they wanted a room to feel warm and welcoming, they didn’t limit their woven textiles to the floor. Now your home is probably a bit better equipped to handle whatever the seasons throw at you, but tapestries are still a great way to make a room feel cozy and hospitable.

An obvious place to start is any room that hosts a lot of visitors: your living room, the dining room, etc. Exposed brick is lovely, but if it’s left unadorned it can be a bit of a harsh look, definitely not the vibe you want when entertaining. The soft cotton of our tapestries makes a great contrast and can help lighten the industrial feel of brick. Consider an abstract pattern with soft shapes in complementary colors like pale green, navy blue, or mauve. Or lean into the industrial look with a tapestry featuring an urban scene, preferably with a slightly desaturated, paler style. Either way, we have a range of sizes so you can be sure some of that charming texture is visible around the tapestry.

For a dining room, consider using woven placemats to amplify the welcoming natural feel, along with simple, single-toned furniture to keep things from feeling too busy. Likewise, in a living room consider adding light fixtures with warm yellow tones and furniture in pastels and soft fabrics. Either way the look isn’t complete without a corresponding color rug or carpet--maximum coziness!
