Piet Boon and his team frequently travel the world to meet people, experience different cultures and derive creative inspiration from unique (design) projects, cultural impulses and new materials.
On one of their visits to Japan they came across “washi”, which translates to “paper” in Japanese. Washi is traditional handmade paper with a history that dates back to 610 AD. Though the paper nowadays enjoys a contemporary following and is used for different purposes, it still holds the same characteristics of strength, durability, lightness, warmth and flexibility.
Impressed by the paper’ characteristics, versatility and beauty, Piet Boon used it as an inspiration for a new Piet Boon wallpaper: a modern interpretation of Japanese Washi paper.
