We have partnered with the World Literacy Foundation to release a special edition ABC Literary Candle infused with the original library scent.
Not only will your home smell like a stack of first edition classic novels, but the proceeds from the candle will benefit the WLF's mission to eradicate illiteracy by 2040.
Many of us take the ability to read for granted, but the reality is that there are 30 million adults in the US alone who are unable to read above the 8th-grade level and 770 million people across the world who cannot read a single word. The World Literacy Foundation is changing that by offering literacy services to over 350,000 children annually, working towards its mission to eradicate illiteracy by 2040.
The candle features the cover of Kate Greenaway's alphabet book. Known for being one of the most influential children's illustrators of her time, Greenaway created the beautiful letters that continue to be used to teach the alphabet to this day.
Over a century after her death, her work remains sought-after and The Kate Greenaway Medal, an annual prize first awarded in 1955 for excellence in the field of English children's illustration, lives on in her honor.
