What inspired you to become an artist, and when did you first realise that you wanted to pursue this career path?

Growing up, I was always drawn to creativity and self-expression. I loved to draw, paint, and make things with my hands. However, it wasn't until I graduated from the university that I realised that I wanted to pursue a career in art. I knew it would be a challenging path, but one that was worth pursuing. I began to immerse myself in art, learning new techniques and experimenting with different mediums. Over time, I began to see my hard work pay off.

What are some of your favourite materials and mediums to work with, and why do you prefer them?

I started my art journey using Ink & Acrylic paint. I loved the bold and expressive brushstrokes details & the versatility and fast drying time of the paint. Now I create most of my work digitally using procreate. It gives me more control and flexibility in the creative process. I can easily undo mistakes, make changes, and experiment with different techniques and styles without having to start over.

How would you describe your artistic style, and how has it evolved over time?

When I first started creating art, my focus was on capturing a particular feeling or emotion in a minimalistic way. I was drawn to the simplicity of black and white, and the way that even the slightest variation in line or shape could convey a powerful message. I experimented with a variety of mediums, including pen, ink, and digital art, always striving to find the perfect balance between minimalism and emotional depth. Recently, my work has evolved to incorporate more abstract elements, pushing me out of my artistic comfort zone and challenging me to explore new creative avenues.

What themes or ideas do you explore in your artwork, and why are they important to you?

The themes and ideas that I explore in my artwork are deeply personal to me, and reflect my own experiences and emotions. Through my art, I aim to capture the complexity of human emotion, the beauty of the natural world, identity, and the power of connection.

Can you walk us through your creative process, from the initial concept to the finished piece?

The first step in my creative process is to conceptualise the piece. I might start with a specific idea or theme that I want to explore, or I might begin with a more abstract concept and let the piece develop organically. I often sketch out rough ideas or write down keywords/notes to help me clarify my vision. With my concept and inspiration in mind, I'll start sketching out the piece in more detail, experimenting with color or composition, or brainstorming different ways to approach the piece. I'll often revise my sketches several times, refining my vision as I go.

How do you stay motivated and inspired when you hit a creative block or rough patch?

Sometimes, the best way to overcome a creative block is to step away from work for a little while. I prefer to take a break, go for a walk, or engage in a different creative activity. Read my favourite book. Or watch a new show. This helps me clear your mind and approach work with a fresh perspective.

What's your favourite piece that you sell on Fy! and why?

My favourite piece that I sell on Fy! is called 'No Evil Allowed.' I love this piece because it's both visually striking and has a deeper meaning. The evil eye is a symbol found in many cultures that's believed to protect against bad luck and negative energy. By incorporating this symbol into the artwork, 'No Evil Allowed' becomes more than just a beautiful piece of art - it's a talisman that can bring good fortune and positive vibes into any space. I think that's pretty special, and I'm proud to offer this piece to my customers
