What inspired you to become an artist, and when did you first realise that you wanted to pursue this career path? I’ve been a Magazine Art Director for over 25 Years and decided to use my knowledge of colour and typography designing cool Art Prints What are some of your favourite materials and mediums to work with, and why do you prefer them? I work in Adobe using illustrator on my iMac, I prefer the colour finish and freedom of font manipulation How would you describe your artistic style, and how has it evolved over time? A lot of my ideas are based on retro vibes, colours are always bright and bold giving impact to the designs What themes or ideas do you explore in your artwork, and why are they important to you? A lot of celebrity based images and flat solid colour is the usual base of my designs, the Neon art is a technique of mine I like to use too. Can you walk us through your creative process, from the initial concept to the finished piece? I usual take photos of fabrics or type I find in every day life, my work is my thoughts when it comes to words or the fun prints What challenges have you faced in your artistic career, and how have you overcome them? Getting my signature bright colours, it takes a designer a while to get a great colour library Who are some artists or other creative figures that have influenced your work, and how have they inspired you? Warhol is a great inspiration, I like to look at Art Directors of 60s, 70s and 80s Magazines too How do you stay motivated and inspired when you hit a creative block or rough patch? Keep going! Experiment, and keep original! What advice would you give to aspiring artists who are just starting out on their artistic journeys? Don’t be swayed by following The Pack, go in a different direction, so many Art prints are copied, so stay on your path! What are your goals for your art in the future, and where do you see your career going in the next few years? I’d love to have my work in more big restaurants and more Galleries What's your favourite piece that you sell on Fy! and why? Elvis MugShot, who doesn’t love The King! Which other artists on the Fy! platform do you love? I’m loving Night Jar Society, nice and colourful, just how it should be Can you share with us a favourite piece of art from another artist and tell us why you love it? (please ensure the artwork is available on Fy!) I love Show Me Mars ‘Dance it Out’ print, just like the saying and font How do you see your art contributing to the wider cultural conversation, and what message or themes do you hope to convey through your work? I just hope nobody has magnolia walls! They fill their space with colourful Art Work forever What advice do you have for aspiring artists who are just starting out in their careers? Have a style and stick with it 16. Our shoppers love to buy multiple pieces to create Gallery walls, can you suggest any other art prints on Fy! which you feel compliment yours? Tom Windeknecht Photography is awesome, love the retro colours with the photos 17. Tell us about the artwork you hang in your own home and how this fits into your interior style? I have a lot of my prints blown up to A1 hanging around, this and a lot of black and white photographs 18. Where is your artwork best suited in a home? Do you love making prints for big bright hallway spaces or cosy bedroom corners? The bigger the better
