What inspired you to become an artist, and when did you first realise that you wanted to pursue this career path?I have always had a passion for art and design from a young age. I initially pursued a different career path (I’m a graphic designer), but I found myself constantly drawn to art . What are some of your favourite materials and mediums to work with, and why do you prefer them?I enjoy working with a variety of mediums, from traditional painting and drawing to digital illustrations. Recently I’m also enjoying experimenting with AI art tools, I often use physical drawings as the basis for my generative art to create more unique, complex, and visually stunning artwork. How would you describe your artistic style, and how has it evolved over time?My artistic style is defined by a mix of whimsical, colorful, and playful elements inspired by my love of cats and pop culture. I create art that brings joy and happiness to others and often incorporates humorous or satirical elements. My style has evolved over time as I have become more skilled with AI tools and techniques, and I am always exploring new ways to bring my unique artistic vision to life. What themes or ideas do you explore in your artwork, and why are they important to you?My artwork explores themes of whimsy, playfulness, and nostalgia, inspired by my love of classic art, Matisse, pop culture, typography, and funny quotes. I believe that art should be accessible and relatable to everyone, regardless of their background or education. I create pieces that evoke a sense of joy and lightheartedness, using bright colours, bold typography, and humorous quotes. Can you walk us through your creative process, from the initial concept to the finished piece? My creative process is all about experimentation and exploration. I take inspiration from my day-to-day experiences and constantly jot down ideas as they come to me. When I'm ready to start working on a piece, I begin by sketching out the basic concept. I like to experiment with different techniques and styles, trying out new tools and mediums to see what works best. Finally, I refine the piece until it feels complete, always keeping an open mind to new ideas and possibilities along the way. What challenges have you faced in your artistic career, and how have you overcome them?As an artist who sells art online, one of my biggest challenges has been finding the right platform to showcase my work. There are so many online marketplaces and websites to choose from! But I found in Fy! A great opportunity to put my work in from of lots of people and I love that! Who are some artists or other creative figures that have influenced your work, and how have they inspired you?David Carson, Paul Rand, and Saul Bass are all designers who have had a significant influence on my work. Carson's experimental use of typography, Rand's focus on simplicity and clarity, and Bass's iconic logos and film title sequences have all inspired me to push the boundaries of design and think outside the box. Andy Warhol and Matisse are two artists who have also had a profound impact on my work. How do you stay motivated and inspired when you hit a creative block or rough patch?I try to step back from my work and take a break. Sometimes, taking a walk with (my dogs) or doing something completely unrelated to my art or design work can help clear my mind and allow me to approach my work with fresh eyes. What advice would you give to aspiring artists who are just starting out on their artistic journeys? One piece of advice I would give to aspiring artists is to experiment and try new things. Don't be afraid to explore different mediums, styles, and techniques, as this can help you discover your unique artistic voice and style. What are your goals for your art in the future, and where do you see your career going in the next few years?Looking ahead to the next few years, I hope to continue to build my career as both an artist and a graphic designer who works with generative AI. This may include collaborating with other artists and designers on projects, exploring new technologies and tools for creating art and design, and taking on new challenges and opportunities as they arise. Ultimately, my goal is to continue to grow and evolve both personally and professionally, while creating work that is meaningful and inspiring to others.
