What inspired you to become an artist, and when did you first realise that you wanted to pursue this career path? I think we are all artists in our own lives and I found an aesthetic or formal output of my enormous imagination mainly in drawing.   It's quite unromantic when I first realised this but it was when I became a nomad, found myself without a job and on the verge of a global pandemic, I thought what if I uploaded some of my drawings to this new platform called Fy.... What are some of your favourite materials and mediums to work with, and why do you prefer them? ohh I've always liked gouache, coloured pencils and markers.  I loved those art sets when I was a little girl that came with all the stuff and they were pretty crappy.   Currently I illustrate more digitally because, as I move around a lot it's easier to work on a tablet than carrying hundreds of papers and pencils... This doesn't mean that it's faster or easier when drawing. It's just more practical How would you describe your artistic style, and how has it evolved over time? My style could be defined as colourful, ironic, feminist (it's hard for me to draw men) and without much sense hahaha.   It has been evolving in the line in applying more textures, shadows, details, etc. What themes or ideas do you explore in your artwork, and why are they important to you? I like to mix the everyday with my imagination, creating scenes that are a little absurd but not too far from reality. Can you walk us through your creative process, from the initial concept to the finished piece? wooww it's quite unmethodical.  I try to keep it pretty random, sometimes I might see a magazine or a scene walking somewhere and take a picture or write it down. ( the main idea) Then I start drawing the main character and then my head makes a kind of collage and I try out scenarios, colours, clothes, hairstyles, etc. Maybe it's a bit cliché to say this but the image takes on its own personality and speaks to me. What challenges have you faced in your artistic career, and how have you overcome them? I think there are challenges every day. It can be the impostor syndrome, feeling the pressure of having to constantly create new material or not thinking of anything worthwhile to draw.   I've overcome it with a lot of mental exercises hahaha. Liberating myself a bit from the perfectionism of things, from the anxiety of social networks (if you look at my instagram it's a bit dead and I don't care) and when I can't think of anything, I go for walks, talk to my friends, read comics and suddenly everything comes back in contact. Who are some artists or other creative figures that have influenced your work, and how have they inspired you? if we are talking about contemporary female illustrators, they are: Nina Cosford, María Medem, Roberta Vazquez (comic), Genie Espinoza (comic), The rest is already a collage of characters and images. How do you stay motivated and inspired when you hit a creative block or rough patch? I try not to push myself and start doing other things, I also work as a designer and focus on other projects or take classes on subjects that interest me. What advice would you give to aspiring artists who are just starting out on their artistic journeys? Don't try to adapt to current trends,  There are digital or physical spaces for everyone.  Don't let anxiety eat you up. Do other things. Become a member of your nearest public library. Put the damn phone aside. What are your goals for your art in the future, and where do you see your career going in the next few years? I would like to start doing illustrations for the press or for book covers... we'll see what happens. What's your favourite piece that you sell on Fy! and why? I really like Cats Art Print And I think I haven't sold any of them hahahaha.   I might really like the colours I used, the composition and this balance between cute and stinky. Which other artists on the Fy! platform do you love? wooww let me check Can you share with us a favourite piece of art from another artist and tell us why you love it? (please ensure the artwork is available on Fy!)  Peachy Keen Art Print by Living Sketches there's something about dead nature that I like very much. How do you see your art contributing to the wider cultural conversation, and what message or themes do you hope to convey through your work?  What advice do you have for aspiring artists who are just starting out in their careers? I already answered this one 16. Our shoppers love to buy multiple pieces to create Gallery walls, can you suggest any other art prints on Fy! which you feel compliment yours?  17. Tell us about the artwork you hang in your own home and how this fits into your interior style? I have my own works, street posters and other more valuable works (bought from art galleries).I think miscellaneous in concept and aesthetically harmonious in representation. 18. Where is your artwork best suited in a home? Do you love making prints for big bright hallway spaces or cosy bedroom corners? I think everyone finds the best place for their artwork, depending on the space, the lighting and the message they want to communicate.
