Working from home isn't always everything it’s cracked up to be. Distractions throughout the day amidst a barrage of Zoom calls. Eurgh. But that’s ok, there are ways to help ease those stresses and pressures. We’ve put together our top 5 home office design hacks so that whether your hold up in a spare bedroom or sprawling in a converted garage – you can take your setup to the next level. Follow these simple interior design tips to create the perfect wfh space.

Hack #1: Sitting Comfortably

Let’s kick this off with an easy win. If you’re working from home then there is a very good chance you’re going to be sat on your bum for a good portion of the day. Sure, standing desks are a great way to stay limber, but let’s face it, you’ve got work to do and you need to be planted comfortably. Get a new chair and lap up the comfort benefits. Even better if it looks as nice as these.

Hack #2: Well Lit

When those dark, winter months roll in and you’re hunched over your desk, rattling away on your keyboard desperately trying to make this the Friday you finish on time – turn the light on. Brighten up your space, and feel lifted by that light. It might sound daft, but seriously, a beautiful floor lamp not only looks great it can make work just feel easier too.

Hack #3: Art Break

When you’re locked away in a home office, there will inevitably be times when your attention wanders. You might even be reading this while you’re supposed to be working – we forgive you. With so many home offices coated in cream or beige, just a little slice of colour can go a long way, it may even give you something to be inspired by during the day. Art is the solution, grab some prints and transform your WFH refuge.

Hack #4: Smell That?

Ahhhh candles, you beauties! You look great, you smell great, why aren’t you in home offices? Seriously, they’re much loved in bathrooms the world over, so why not brighten up the place you work with not only a flickering ambience but also a fragrance that relaxes you at the end of the day or energises you at the beginning of it.

Hack #5: Shiny!

Trinkets are a beautiful way to make a space yours. Whether it’s little toys to keep you entertained between calls or sculptures that keep the creative juices flowing – make decorating your desk, heck the whole of your home office, a priority. You might even be able to coordinate the art you’re going to put on the walls with what you’ll line your desk with.

Kudos to you for taking the initiative and wanting to make your home office everything it can be. The first step is the hardest so it’s all downhill from here. With these 5 hacks, you’re bound to know what you want to do next, and to keep pointing in the right direction, check out everything that you have available to work from home like a boss.
