Your bathroom is a blank canvas for your ideas. It’s an opportunity to create a space of relaxation and calm, where you can retreat from the chaos of life. Often overlooked when adding decor, it’s actually the ideal place to create your very own private indoor oasis.  If you’re dreaming of a room that transports you into the middle of the rainforest, or perhaps creating somewhere perfect for cosy Sunday night baths; we’ve got you covered. The best part? You can completely achieve these vibes on a budget. No need to change your vanity or make other (expensive) changes to achieve your dream space. All of these tips and tricks are renter-friendly, so you can take your oasis with you wherever you go.

Fy! ’s five favourite ways to turn your bathroom into an indoor oasis on a budget—

  1. Put up an art print (or two or three)

The right art can transform a room; it’s a well-known fact. What was once just a bathroom is now a space where you are excited to spend time, where your style shines. From jungle-themed prints to something more cheeky (literally and/or figuratively), there is truly something for every taste and budget.  Remember, your oasis is what you make it; fit your existing aesthetic or go try something new. There’s always mixing and matching if you’re feeling particularly adventurous. You can see some of our bathroom art picks here

2. Add candles to set the mood

Picture this: It’s dark, cold, and raining outside. You’ve got nowhere else to be, and you’ve run yourself a hot bubble bath in a room lit with candlelight. There’s soft music playing in the background, and you’ve turned off phone notifications. The mood you’ve created is 12/10.  Wishing you were there? Candles are the secret key to achieving the ultimate luxury at-home spa experience. Plus, they’re just as cute as decor during the daytime when they’re not in use. Functional AND practical, we love their versatility in a space.

3. Utilise boxes and storage

Hear us out. Home storage can be a missed opportunity to bring a little luxury in, but it doesn’t have to be. Storing your toilet paper doesn’t have to be boring.  Bring in a unique and fun bucket with a lid that hides the necessary-but-not-cute bathroom clutter. Put your toiletries in a cute storage crate, or upgrade your old laundry bag to a woven basket.

4. Decorate with enthusiasm

This is your chance to show off all the fun stuff you’ve secretly wanted to buy for years. For example, buy a cool bath mat! Sprinkle a bit more fun into bathtime with a suggestive or festive mat. Find bathroom-friendly indoor plants and home them in a macrame plant hanger or a curvy booty. The opportunities are endless.

 5. Don’t forget to add the cosy vibe

A spa experience isn’t complete without a soft bathrobe and cuddly towel. An old beach towel or ‘should have gotten rid of this years ago’ towel will soon be out of place in the luxurious bathroom experience you’re creating. Let’s be honest—They’re just not as nice as wrapping up in an organic cotton bathrobe and sliding your feet into soft slippers.

Creating your personal indoor oasis is all about including what you love, and it doesn’t have to make sense to everyone else. Be bold, go a bit wild, and get creative!
