Ladies Dancing by Warren B Davis 1886, Womens Circle, Dance of the Forest Nymphs Warren B. Davis (1865–1928) was an American painter and illustrator renowned for his depictions of nymphs and dancers in natural settings. He studied at the Art Students League in New York and contributed to publications such as Vanity Fair, Life Magazine, and The Ladies World. One of his notable works is "Women Dancing (Dance of the Forest Nymphs)," which features a group of women dancing in a forest, rendered with loose brushstrokes that emphasize the painterly aspects of the composition. By avoiding detailed facial features, Davis generalizes their identity to express femininity through their gestures. Davis's works are held in various institutions, including the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Detroit Institute of Arts, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
